Karen Phillips

Board President
Karen Phillips is the founding Executive Director of Texas IB Schools (TIBS). She holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington and a M.Ed. from the University of North Texas. She has served on multiple boards including the Commissioner’s Council for Gifted and Talented and currently serves on the Board of ConnecTeach.

Walter Sorensen

Vice President of Operations
Walter Sorensen is the Head of School at Alcuin School in Dallas, Texas. He recently served on the Board of ISAS (Independent Schools of the Southwest) and has served on the Boards of other independent schools. A native of Houston, Mr. Sorensen earned his B.S. at Utah State University and his M.S. in Educational Administration at the University of Houston at Clear Lake.

Todd Kettler

Ted Williams

Member at Large
Mr. Williams is an experienced IB educator and a Senior Lead Educator for the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Educator Network (IBEN). Through IBEN and Texas IB Schools (TIBS), Mr. Williams consults on the implementation of IB programs with schools and school districts around the world. Following a long and successful career as a Texas educator, Mr. Williams joined the IB as Middle Years Programme (MYP) School Services Regional Manager of the International Baccalaureate® Americas in Bethesda, MD. He later served as MYP IB World School (IBWS) Manager Contractor. He holds a B.A. from Anderson University and a M.A.E. from Ball State University.
